Jubilee believes firmly that a greater good is accomplished when people are helping people. That is why Jubilee hosts events where the community can come together, have fun, and help those in need.

News

Walking for Food - Paul Spisak, our Administrative Secretary, will be participating in The Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Walk for a Healthy Community on Saturday May 30 at 9 a.m. at Heinz Field.  This walk will benefit 44 western Pennsylvania health and human service agencies, including Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Since Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield underwrites the total cost of the walk, 100% of the money that Jubilee Kitchen raises will be deposited into our agency to help us obtain more food and other much needed items from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. So remember, the more individuals who support him, the more money we raise… Please make a difference by supporting him

You can also register to walk with our group by registering on line at:
www.walkforahealthycommunity.org
• Or call 866-620-9255
• Or you can register on the day of the event. Simply visit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Booth.

Thank you in advance for your support. Please make your check payable to the “Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank” and send it to Paul’s attention at Jubilee Association Inc. Your role in the community is very important and together we can make a difference in the lives of others.

Please feel free to call Paul if you have any questions at 412.261.5417 or e-mail him at jubileeassoc79@yahoo.com

Delvin Turner's success - Recently, Delvin Turner won first prize in the 16th annual competition sponsored by National City Bank for his essay on August Wilson, “The Timeless African American Playwright.“ Delvin attended St. Agnes School, is a senior at Central Catholic High School, attended Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development for the past two summers,  and is preparing to matriculate into LaSalle University – all funded by Jubilee Soup Kitchen.  Currently, Jubilee funds the education of six other students, who are determined to make a success of their lives too.  Read Delvin Turner’s letter of thanks for this wonderful program and opportunity. Delvin and his fellow students will return dividends to our community and country for many years to come.

Thanksgiving 2007Thanksgiving Dinner 2007 - Pittsburghers are known for their generosity, especially duringthe holiday season. On Thanksgiving Day we served nearly 200 guests with many volunteers helping prepare and serve the turkey dinners with all the trimmings. Before and after Thanksgiving we also "winterized" our guests by providing over 100 pairs of boots from Payless and100 back packs and long johns from two very generous benefactors. During the next weeks prior to Christmas, Jubilee Kitchen gets very busy. The sights and sounds of Christmas around the kitchen are very heart warming as people begin to bring in gifts for our guests, the phone starts ringing off the hook with people asking to volunteer and with college and high school students who want to make a difference in the world.

Sister Liguori's Letter - As we take advantage of this marvelous weather to accomplish what needs to be done in life or to relax from our busy schedules, perhaps we can take a moment to give thanks to God for our blessings and remember how our meals are intimately intertwined with our family, whether that be our parents, siblings and children or the guests we feed at Jubilee Soup Kitchen. Your generosity to Jubilee Soup Kitchen means that you are part of our family. We thank you for your support and ask that you continue to support us these days when so many of our guests are looking for a family that will welcome them to the table. I ask you to continue your generosity to Jubilee Kitchen through your financial support. Please  send your check payable to: Jubilee Association, Inc. P. O. Box 42251, Pittsburgh PA 15203.
