We are four graduate students of the Heinz School, Carnegie Mellon – Gabriella Bermudez, Danielle Little, Jamilah Moon, and Panote Preechyanud – and a faculty advisor, Wil Gorr. This was a great project for us because we got to meet Sister Liguori Rossner, Paul Cwynar, the wonder staff, and the devoted volunteers of the Jubilee Soup Kitchen. What clear thinking, compassionate, and good people! What an incredibly valuable resource for our community!

Paul Cwyner initially contacted Wil Gorr to do the project and was instrumental in working with the team in all phases of the project. Gary Franko, graphics designer at the Heinz School, served as consultant. We learned a lot and had great fun putting our technical and creative skills to work with the help of these talented individuals.

Next each team member will tell you a little about herself or himself.

Gabriela Bermudez is a first year Master’s student in the Public Policy and Management program at the Heinz school. She is interested in technology and community development. Gabriela is originally from New York City and attended Syracuse University in upstate New York for her undergraduate studies. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, Latin American Studies and Spanish Language, Literature and Culture. When Gabriela has free time she enjoys spending time with friends, cooking, dancing, and mentoring/tutoring in the community.

Wil Gorr is Professor of Public Policy and Management Information Systems at the Heinz School. He loves working with students on community projects and is very proud of the InfoLink Program he founded at the Heinz School, a summer program for inner-city high school students that ran for nine years. His hobbies are reading and cooking. He and his wife Jeanne do a lot of hiking with their dog Blue.

Jamilah Moon is a first year Master's student in the Public Policy and Management program at the Heinz School. Her area of concentration is Urban and Regional Economic Development. She is from Oakland, California and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University. She is deeply interested in planning and community development within disadvantage communities. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Danielle Little is currently a first year in the Masters in Public Policy and Management program at the Heinz School. Her main interest is the way in which technology affects education. Other interests include housing policy, education policy, and web development. Danielle graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with an Astrophysics track and a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Francophone Studies. She enjoys running, photography, and cooking in her spare time.

Panote Preechyanud is a second year Masters student in the Public Policy and Management program at the Heinz School. He is interested in studying public finance and economic development. Panote is originally from Thailand, but has been educated in the United States for seven years now. He received a bachelor degree in Economics from University of Virginia. Panote plans to go back to Thailand after he graduates and work for the Thai government. When he has free time, he likes to play tennis, and do all types of outdoor activities.
