Phase
I: Preparation

InfoLink staff begin recruiting students
from partnership high schools through on site information
sessions.
Each
year InfoLink begins well before the annual orientation event
in April ...

Phase
II: Program Launch

InfoLink's
Orientation in April brings all students, parents and instructors
together for the first time. |
| Starting
off with Relational Database software helps put all students
on an equal technology footing |

.

InfoLinkers
on-site at a high school computer lab -- where the expectations
increase quickly. |
Quickly
getting into more advanced work -- computer aided design or
CAD -- helps set the tone for the challenging yet rewarding
work ahead
. |

Students
from different school districts and neighborhoods also develop
new friendships during the InfoLink summer. |

Phase
III: The CMU Environment

"Powering
up" in a CMU computer lab and moving on to Web Development,
GIS, Computer Programming and Multimedia instruction.
| Working
closely with InfoLink's intern hosts to ensure that both firms
and students have positive experiences.

InfoLink
students see "high tech" work environments first-hand
through field trips to local Pittsburgh companies.

Applied:
Internships
One-on-one
student and employer interviews -- an important part of the
internship selection process. |
Students'
work with intern hosts also develops new professional relationships
that last beyond the InfoLink experience.

Phase
IV: Team Based Projects and Graduation

Applying
their new technology skills is also a "fun" experience
-- on board one of Pittsburgh's floating science labs.
| A
group of InfoLink students preparing for their team project
presentations.

| |
After
InfoLink's final team project presenations and Graduation
Ceremony in August -- everyone ends up with a great deal of
accomplishments, expereinces and skills and a lot of new,
lasting friendships as well!
